GLOBALIZATION
What is it? Market-capitalism carried into the international sphere but without governments to regulate and supervise the rule of law. Instead, international organizations (see WTO, WB, IMF) intervene to support corporations. The advocates say globalization brings the first real chance of prosperity to the impoverished corners of the world. Opponents say globalization policies have contributed to increased poverty, increased inequality between and within nations, increased hunger, increased corporate concentration, decreased social services, decreased power of labour vs. global corporations and the erosion of democracy. Those in the middle see how unbridled globalization could wreak havoc on some while simultaneously opening the doors of opportunity to others. Natonal coporations come under the control of the national state government, Globalized corporations come under the laws of no state.Added By: Lucas
