CAPITAL DISTRICT
What is it? a small area in a federation in which the capital city and government offices are located. It may be located within the territory of one of the provinces but does not form part of that province. It is governed directly by the federal government. The powers of the local government of such a territory are little more than those of a municipality. Canada does not have a capital territory. Ottawa, the capital, is a city within the Province of Ontario.Added By: Owen
